The Spider is an enemy in EarthBound Beginnings. It can be encountered in western Yucca Desert, northern Youngtown, the Swamp and its eastern side, Ellay, and the Mt. Itoi base. It attacks physically and sometimes Poisons, calls for another Spider, or lowers a member's FIGHT. This enemy's battle theme is Battle with a Flippant Foe.
Defensively, the Spider has 80 HP and 95 DEFENSE. Offensively, it has 45 OFFENSE, 60 FIGHT, and 80 SPEED. Its resilience to Status Ailments is 80 WISDOM, 60 STRENGTH, and 15 FORCE. It drops 48 EXP and $40 when defeated.
It is weak to Insecticide. The superior version of this enemy is the Tarantula.

- EarthBound's equivalent to the Spider is the Arachnid!. It is found in Rainy Circle. It has significantly more HP and also has a chance to poison a member, functioning similarly to EarthBound Beginnings. Mother 3's equivalent is also the Arachnid!. It is found in Osohe Castle. It has less HP and isn't poisonous, functioning differently than in EarthBound Beginnings.
- In the companion guide, he is called "Spider" in Mother and EarthBound Beginnings, and "Arachnid!" in Mother 1 + 2, which references EarthBound's version of the enemy.
