The Shattered Man is an enemy in EarthBound that appears in the Summers museum. It has a high defense stat and is often grouped with others of its kind. It is capable of solidifying party members by giving targets "a great big hug" and reaching out with its icy hand. Upon defeat, the Shattered Man has a 1/2 probability of dropping Mummy Wrap. The foe is also highly weak to Paralysis.

- If one of the Shattered Men is left behind, it is still possible to fight it after defeating Giygas, even if in this point of the game no enemies are supposed to be fought. Losing to this Shattered Man doesn't result in a Game Over, only a black screen. If the Player holds left on this screen, the party leaves the room, all in their ghost forms, and the game's graphics glitch until the colors are reloaded.[1][2] This happens because after defeating Gyigas, the party is granted invulnerability to death, mostly to avoid status effects present in the overworld, and so, the game doesn't know how to react to something that should lead to a game over.
