Queen Mary's Castle (クイーンマリーしろ, Queen Mary Castle) is both a safe and mandatory location in EarthBound Beginnings. The castle is situated in Magicant and guarded by three men. They allow Ninten to pass after he uses Telepathy to solve a riddle. Queen Mary herself is located in a room with a long, red rug. When first meeting Queen Mary, she will tell you of how the Eight Melodies were scattered, and begs you to find them all and learn the song.

The castle has a number of useful items. However, due to Ninten's limited inventory, it is likely the player won't be able to carry them. It is recommended to first recruit Lloyd, then eventually come back to Magicant via the Onyx Hook or XX Cave. Entering the third hallway, Ninten will come across 3 rooms.

The first room has 6 presents that empty themselves should Ninten pick an item from one of them. The presents include, from the upper left-to-right presents to the lower left-to-right presents respectively, the Boomerang, PSI Stone, and FightCapsul; and the lower presents being the Rope, Ruler, and Berry Tofu.

The second room has 4 presents. The upper-left present holds a Bullhorn, the upper-right present holds a Magic Herb, the lower-left present holds an Antidote, and the lower-right present holds nothing; being one of 2 presents in the game that doesn't have anything inside (The other in Rosemary's House).

The third room has 3 presents. The left present holds a Flashdark, the middle present holds an Antidote, and the right present holds a Magic Herb.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Once the player obtains all the melodies and sings in front of her, Queen Mary's castle fades away with the rest of Magicant, revealing that she was Maria (Ninten's Great-Grandmother and the wife of George) all along. The Onyx Hook will then become nonfunctional and with it all XX Caves. It then warps the player in front of George's Gravestone, with the path to Giegue opened up.

In the original Famicon version, once the player gets 7 of the 8 melodies, Ninten is warped to Queen Mary, who sings the Eighth Melody herself, thus making the XX Stone merely cosmetic.

Spoiler warning: Spoilers end here.
