Nintendo Switch is a video game console developed by Nintendo and released worldwide on March 3, 2017 in most regions. The console itself is a tablet that can be docked for use as a home console or used as a portable device. It will be a hybrid console. With standard buttons and analog directional sticks for user input, motion detection, and haptic feedback, the Wireless Joy Con controller can be placed on either side of the console to support handheld-style gaming. You can also connect it to a grip accessory to provide a traditional home console game pad form, or use it separately like a Wii remote or Nunchuk to support local multiplayer mode. Nintendo Switch software supports online gaming over an internet connection and ad hoc local wireless connectivity to other consoles. Nintendo Switch games and software are available digitally through physical Flash-based ROM cartridges and the Nintendo eShop. The system is not region locked. [o] An overhaul focusing on the handheld of a system called Nintendo Switch Lite was released on September 20, 2019. A revised high-end version of the original system with OLED screens was released on October 8, 2021.
