The Asthma Spray (Japanese: ぜんそくスプレー and abbreviated AsthmaSpray in both EarthBound Beginnings and Mother 1 + 2) is one of the later medicinal items in EarthBound Beginnings. It is bought in Podunk, Merrysville, Reindeer, and Ellay's department stores for $148, selling for $74. It cures Asthma upon use and can be used indefinitely.
The Asthma Spray is generally used in the middle of the game, specifically in Merrysville and Reindeer. It is the only cure to Asthma and is extremely useful against the Mad Car, Mad Truck, Psycho Car, PsychoTruck, and ManiacTruck specifically. If the player does not have an Asthma Spray in an inventory when this occurs, Ninten will always miss turns (including running, making this especially dangerous) leaving him open to attacks, eventually leading to unconsciousness if he has no other party members available. Once the player reaches the Yucca Desert, it becomes redundant as no more vehicular enemy are encountered for the rest of the game.
